Exploring Tahiti with Windstar

May 21, 2022 | Adventure place, Scuba Diving, Tahiti, Trip

Me and my mom about to get on board Star Breeze.

In March I was invited to set sail to the Society Islands of Tahiti on Windstar’s Star Breeze for 7 nights. Ports of call included Huahine, Raiatea, Taha’a, Bora Bora and Moorea.

Cruising in and around the Tahitian Islands on the small cruise ship lines like Paul Gaugain, Oceania and Windstar have proven to be the best value when considering a vacation to French Polynesia.

Some quick facts of the Sea Breeze:

  • Maximum of 312 guest
  • 24 hour room service included
  • All suites are spacious and comfortable with large picture windows
  • All meals and daily entertainment included
  • Drink packages and gratuities can be purchased in advance, making this an all-inclusive package
  • You sail at night
  • You play on the islands during the day with 2 days on Bora Bora and Moorea.

Spend your days exploring the many adventures of the islands or lounging on the pool deck with your favorite book and beverage. (or a little of both :-)

Three of my favorite excursions were:

1. Snorkeling the Coral Gardens off of Taha’a. The Coral Gardens are a labyrinth of stony corals, gorgonians, sea fans and variety of colorful reef fish. The current will move you through the gardens.

2. A full day excursion with Poe Island Tours on Huahine. There is an abundance of gorgeous seaside scenery on Huahine. You will find the two islands to be tranquil, and calming. The roads are well maintained, and the people are very warm and welcoming. Shop local offerings in the artists home gallery. Have a typical fresh lunch with locals in their home, and a cooking lesson too! Learn to husk a coconut, it could come in handy as you invariably start thinking about spending more time here.

3. On every Windstar cruise there is a special cultural event, on this sailing we whisked away on vaka’s to a private motu for a traditional Polynesian feast and dance show.

The food was a generous Polynesian buffet fit for a King! In Tahiti, there is an abundance of the absolute freshest fish, as well as plenty of vegetarian options.

The dancers are even better! After sundown the drums began. Drums you can feel! All In traditional outfits, and well-rehearsed the lovely Tahitian dancers wowed the crowd. Not to be outdone, the fire dancer boys were up next. They make it a lot of fun and their skill is remarkable!
