Don Schmidt
Don’s adventurous family encouraged him to join them in diving at age 16. That was the good news. The bad news was the checkout dive was in a cold murky quarry, with serious difficulty clearing ears, and stifling panic. It was a rocky start! A week in Bermuda did wonders for his outlook on diving! Bermuda is a great nearby east-coast destination if you like shallow dives in clear waters, with wrecks galore.
Don is our South Pacific Scuba Specialist at BeyondBoraBora. These days we depend on Don to experience and report on the diving at tropical resort destinations around the planet. It’s rough, but he remains willing nonetheless. An Advanced Open Water Diver and NITROX certified, Don aspires to the Deep Diver Specialty in 2023.
He has a big soft spot in his heart for Fiji and frequently refers to his “next trip” to Fiji. Not only are the reefs incredible, the Fijian people are the most genuine, humble, and loving people anywhere! A Chiropractor for 27 years, Dr. Don Is passionate about nature, biology, reef ecology, and health of the oceans. He is continually amazed by their amazing creatures.
Water seems to be Don’s medium. When above the water he loves whale watching, snow skiing, swimming, and snorkeling. On dry land he is likely to be found on a bicycle.
